SHOWMANSHIP

Junior Fair Showmanship Rules

  1. The purpose of a showmanship contest is to encourage young exhibitors to acquire skill and know-how in the handling of animals and to obtain information and practice in fitting and grooming them for show.
  2. Entrants must register for the showmanship class and show the same animal (their own project) from start to finish to receive showmanship premium.
  3. Age requirements are determined as of Jan. 1, of current year. First year showmanship class 8-18; Junior Showmanship class 8-11; Intermediate showmanship class 12-14; Senior showmanship class 15-18.
  4. No writing, farm name, advertising or 4-H or FFA logos is permitted on clothing.
  5. First Year Showmanship is open to any exhibitor who has never shown in that division before or may choose to show in their regular age division.
  6. All entrants must be enrolled in Williams County Junior Fair this year.
  7. In Senior Showmanship the top five participants will be placed (to assure sweepstakes participant) in each division.
  8. Exhibitors may participate in only one showmanship class per division.
  9. Winners of Sweepstakes shall compete in Showman of Showmen Showmanship class only, in future years, regardless of specie, as long as still enrolled in Junior Fair.

Showman of Showmen

1.      All first place winners from showmanship classes and Sweepstake winners who are 4-H or FFA members, will compete for Showman of Showmen.

2.      Entrants must use their own project animals shown in Junior Fair. (No open class animals allowed) and use same animal from start to finish.
