Rules (Refer to Junior Fair General Rules regarding Quality Assurance):

  1. Exhibitors must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection within 30 days of the fair and present DUNF form at the fair.  No health papers will be written upon arrival at the fair.
  2. All exhibitors shall abide by the Junior Fair Rules and Regulations regarding tampering and/or misrepresentation, fitting and showing.
  3. Animals should be exercised daily for better animal health.
  4. All market lambs are to be born after January 1 of the current year of show.
  5. All sheep projects are to be in the exhibitor's possession by June 1 of current year. All market lambs must be brought to the Williams County Fairgrounds to be tagged on the date designated in June by the Junior Fair Sheep Committee.
  6. A limit of two entries by one exhibitor in each breeding class. Exhibitors may show two market lambs and one pair of market lambs in the show. Single lambs may not be from the pair. All market lambs must be wether or ewe lambs.
  7. All market lambs must be slick shorn within two weeks of the fair. All wool must be a uniform length of no more than 1/4 inch.
  8. All market animals will be shown in classes according to the lamb’s weight. Market Lambs must have a minimum weight of 85 pounds to sell in the Junior Fair Sale. All animals will go through the scales once. No reweighs.
  9. Show order will follow class numbers. Entries will first be judged on showmanship. Entrants must enter the showmanship classes and show their own animal to receive showmanship premium.

  11. Show attire should be clean, neat and include hard-soled shoes.  No writing, advertising, farm name, or 4-H or FFA logos allowed on clothing.
  12. Single market lambs born and raised in Williams County may be entered in the born and raised class. To show in this class, lambs must be born and raised in Williams County and be entered in the born and raised class. No late entries or changes will be accepted.  A Williams County Born and Raised Market Lamb entry form must be completed and turned into the Williams County OSU Extension office by July 1.  If entry form is not received by specified date, animal(s) will be entered in the traditional market lamb class.
  13. Market animal can only be shown in one Junior Fair class.
  14. Aisles and stalls are to be kept clean throughout the fair. After the sale, manure is to be removed from the stalls. If stall areas are not clean, exhibitor will forfeit premium.
  15. All female and intact male sheep must have the official USDA scrapie id tag affixed to the ear at fair check in.  Animals without this official tag will not be allowed to enter the fairgrounds or compete at the Williams County Fair.
  16. The Livestock Committee can require the removal from the fairgrounds of any animal that poses any health or safety concerns to people or other animals.

17.     If an animal designated for the Jr. Fair Sale dies during the fair, the exhibitor cannot participate in the Jr. Fair Sale.  Exhibitors will still receive premiums earned.

18.     Once an animal leaves the fairgrounds, it will not be allowed back on.
