RABBIT DIVISION

Weigh‑in: Saturday, Sept. 6, following poultry.

Show: Monday, Sept. 8, 9:00 a.m.

Release date & time: The release date for each species will be determined by the Livestock Committee.  The load out times must be before 9:00 a.m. or after 9:00 p.m. of the release date.  Check your barn for the release date. 

Pedestrian safety must be observed at all times.

Rules:

  1. Animals will be subject to veterinarian or show committee inspection.
  2. All exhibitors shall abide by the Junior Fair Rules and Regulations regarding tampering and/or misrepresentation, fitting and showing.
  3. All rabbits, including meat pens must have a tattoo in the left ear before/as of check in time at the fair. Any rabbits without a tattoo will be graded separately and not be eligible for championship honors.
  4. Entries in Rabbit Division are limited to two entries per class for breeding classes, a maximum of one doe & litter per class and a showmanship class using one of the rabbits entered by the exhibitor, plus two meat pen entries
  5. Exhibitors must be present for judging.
  6. Meat rabbits are required to be born at the member’s home from a doe owned by the member.  An exhibitor may enter two meat pens in the show.  A meat pen consists of three rabbits not over 75 days old with each rabbit weighing no more than 5.5 pounds to be eligible for championship classes.  A meat pen can be a purebred or crossbred commercial.
  7. All animals go through the scales once; no reweighs. DUNF forms must be turned in at the scale. Only meat rabbits meeting weight requirements will be eligible to show and may sell in the Junior Fair Sale to go for slaughter. Non-qualifying rabbits will receive a ribbon only.
  8. Exhibitor may sell only one pen of market rabbits. When sold through the Junior Fair Sale, rabbits become the property of the buyer. The member is responsible for its care until the end of the fair.
  9. If an animal designated for the Jr. Fair Sale dies during the fair, the exhibitor cannot participate in the Jr. Fair Sale.  Exhibitors will still receive premiums earned.
  10. Once an animal leaves the fairgrounds, it will not be allowed back onto the fairgrounds.
  11. Exhibitors are expected to keep animals fed, watered and pens clean. Animals must be removed and pens cleaned out by 9:00 p.m. the last day of the fair. Exhibitors are being asked to help guard the building according to the schedule that each will be assigned.
  12. Rabbits will be divided and shown by all the age classes in a breed, before going to the next breed starting with A for Angora. Exhibitors are required to state the breed of the rabbits on the entry card.
  13. Show order will include Showmanship classes, Class 6, Class 4, Crossbred Bucks (all ages) and Crossbred Does (all ages.) Entrants must enter showmanship class to receive showmanship premiums.
  14. Aisles and pens are to be kept clean throughout the fair. After check-out and/or sale, manure is to be removed from the pens. If pen areas are not clean, the exhibitor will forfeit their premium.
  15. Recommended show attire includes clean, white shirt, dark pants, and hard-soled shoes.  No writing, farm name, advertising or 4-H or FFA logos allowed on clothing.
