Release date & time: The release date for each species will be determined by the Livestock Committee.  The load out times are 6:00 a.m. -9:00 a.m. or 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. on Thursday.  Check your barn for the release date. 

Pedestrian safety must be observed at all times.

Rules (Refer to Junior Fair General Rules regarding Quality Assurance):

1.      Exhibitors must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection within 30 days of the fair and present DUNF at fair.  No health papers will be written at the gate.

2.      Animal ID papers are required to be filled out in OSU office by June 1st.

3.      If exhibitor or parent does not own animal, you are required to write a lease agreement and file in OSU office by June 1st.

4.      All exhibitors shall abide by the Fair Rules and Regulations regarding tampering and/or misrepresentation, fitting and showing. No horns on Bovine

5.      Animals should be exercised daily for better animal health. All animals must be halter broken to lead and double tied with neck strap and halter.

6.      Exhibitors are limited to 2 entries in each class.

7.      Entries will be judged on type only. Entrants must enter showmanship class to receive showmanship premiums.

8.      Aisles and stalls are to be kept clean throughout the fair. After the sale, manure is to be removed from the stalls. If stall areas are not clean, exhibitor will forfeit premium.

9.      Clean, neat appropriate clothing including white shirt, white pants and hard soled shoes or boots are expected.  No writing, farm name, advertising or 4-H or FFA logos allowed on clothing.

10.  Each age category heifer and cow in a breed will compete for breed champion.

11.  Each age category heifer will compete for "Champion Heifer All Breeds."

12.  Each age category cow will compete for "Champion Cow all Breeds."

13.  The "Champion All Breeds" and "Champion Cow all Breeds" will compete for Grand and Reserve Champion Dairy project. These winners will sell as the "Champion" and "Reserve Champion" dairy project.

14.  No painting, coloring or application of other foreign substances to the hooves or any other part of the cow. No tampering to udders.

15. If an animal designated for the Jr. Fair Sale dies during the fair, the exhibitor cannot participate in the Jr. Fair Sale.  Exhibitors will still receive premiums earned.
16. Once an animal leaves the fairgrounds, it will not be allowed back onto the grounds.

All animals should be purebred.

·         Spring Heifer Calf, born on or after March 1, and over 4 months of age of current year.

·         Winter Heifer Calf, born Dec. 1, last year through Feb. 29 of current year.

·         Fall Heifer Calf, born Sept. 1, last year through Nov. 30, last year.

·         Summer Yearling Heifer, born June 1, last year through August 31, last year

·         Spring Yearling Heifer, born March 1, last year through May 31, last year.

·         Winter Yearling Heifer, born December 1, through February 28 last year.

·         Fall Yearling Heifer, born Sept. 1 through November 30, two years ago.

·         Spring Two Year Old Cow, born March 1, through Aug. 31, two years ago.

·         Fall Two Year Old Cow, born Sept. 1, through Feb. 28, two years ago.

·         Three Year Old Cow, born Sept. 1, though Aug. 31, three years ago.

·         Four Year Old Cow, born Sept. 1, through Aug. 31, four years ago.
