This year’s theme is “Garden Life.”
Two shows: September 6 & 10
Rules:
- Entries are free except where the total of the
premiums in exhibits entered exceed the price of the exhibitor’s pass. The
exhibitor then is required to purchase an exhibitor ticket, which includes
car parking for the days and nights of the fair. To vote for the fair board,
you must have a membership ticket.
- No entry fee
will be required by ANY Federated Club. However, an exhibitor’s number for a
club must be obtained from the Fair Secretary. No individual member can
exhibit using the club exhibitor number.
- Entries are open to any amateur who wishes to exhibit
with the exception of classes 3A and 5A, which are open to Federated Garden
Clubs only.
- Each entry must be accompanied by an exhibitor’s tag
correctly filled in with the name, address, exhibitor number, section and
class. Juniors must list age on entry
tag.
- All exhibits for the first show must be entered Sep 5,
from 6 pm
to 8 pm and Sep 6
from 8
am
to 10:30 am at the
Gillette
Cultural Arts
Building, with judging to begin
at noon, Saturday. The first show
must be removed and the second show entered Sep 9, from 6pm to 8pm
and Sep 10, from 8am to 10:30am, with judging to begin at noon. All exhibits will be removed after 5pm, Sep 13, 2008.
- All specimen entries must be grown by the exhibitor
and correctly named by variety. Exhibitors may enter more than one specimen
per class, providing that each entry is a different named variety.
- When the schedule calls for a definite number, as in
floriculture exhibits, buds are considered a bloom and a greater or lesser
number disqualifies the exhibit.
- Exhibitors may enter as many classes in the Artistic
Sections as desired, but only one entry per premium number. Artistic
designs must be the work of the exhibitor. Plant material may be
obtained from any source for use in arrangements.
- No artificial material will be permitted. Any dried,
dyed and painted plant material may be used, but fresh-cut material must be
featured unless otherwise stated. No painted fresh material will be
permitted.
- All plant material used in the artistic designs must
be listed on a card accompanying the arrangement.
- All containers and accessories should have the owner’s
name on them in an inconspicuous place.
- All due care will be taken, but no responsibility is
assumed for broken or lost articles.
- In Section 2A & 7A, the plant must have been in the
possession of the exhibitor for at least three (3) months.
- All entries will be placed as directed by the
placement committee.
- The placement committee reserves the right to combine
or subdivide floriculture exhibit classes according to the number of
entries; and if none is entered in a class, to remove card and space entries
accordingly.
- Entries will be judged by the Standard System of
Judging, by an accredited judge of the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs Inc.
The judge’s decision is final. Judging is to be limited to four hours.
- NO ONE but the judge and one clerk from each federated
club will be allowed on the floor during the judging unless oral judging is
requested.
- Judges will disqualify any exhibit that does not meet
the requirements of the class in which the exhibit is entered.
- Premiums may be withheld if wilted flowers are not
replaced in arrangements.
- The BEST OF SHOW award will be given to any Junior and
amateur in the Artistic Division for both shows.
- The GREEN THUMB award will be given to any Junior or
amateur in the Floriculture Division for both shows.
- The INDOOR GROWER award may be given to any Senior or
Junior in the potted plant division, first show only.
- A JUDGES DISTINCTION award may be given for any Senior
or Junior exhibit the judge considers worthy, for both shows.
- All premiums will be mailed after the fair.
