Objectives:

The Williams County Cheer-off will showcase the cheerleading squads, grades 5 through 12, from ANY county schools in the area. The competition is open to all schools (not just Williams County) and will conclude with the announcement of the winning squads. Prizes will be awarded to the top three squads in each of the following five divisions:

Division I – 5th & 6th grade squads

Division II - 7th and 8th grade squads

Division III – Freshmen

Division IV – Junior Varsity

Division V – Varsity combined squads

Safety

The overall safety of the performance of each squad shall be evaluated by the judges at all times. The use of mini trams, knee drops, slam splits and drop slits are NOT permitted. No skits will be permitted as a part of your routine. Toe Pitches are also not permitted.  Pyramids and mounts are prohibited. Individuals may not stand on another’s shoulders or support another individual in any type of mount. Any school doing mounts as part of their routine will be disqualified. Emphasis should be on cheer ability. Tumbling and gymnastics are permitted.

Judging and Scoring

There will be three out-of-County judges for all divisions of the competition. Each judge will score all areas of competition. The total of all judges will be added together to determine the final outcome. All judges have a full understanding of the rules of this competition. Judges may confer from time to time during judging of the competition. The total possible points for each judge will be 100. A sample score sheet used for the basis of judging will be available on-line for all squad advisors prior to the competition day. The judges will do all tabulations of scores, but we will also have an official tabulator recalculate the scores for accuracy. If an error is found, it will be corrected and brought to the attention of the appropriate judge. All divisions will be judged separately.

Winners and Awards

Placing of the top three squads in each Division will be announced as soon after the completion of the contest and tabulation of scores. All trophies for the respective Divisions will be presented at this time. Squad score sheets will be available for advisors to pick up one (1) hour after the conclusion of the competition at the fair secretary’s office.
